If your HD is Mac OS Extended, you may want to try to reformat it using APFS, although it seems that kopecn is having issues with drives that are formatted APFS. The only issue was that it took several attempts to add it to the Privacy tab of Spotlight, after being rejected a few times with the following message: Privacy List Error - This item could not be added or removed because of an unknown error. I can copy to/from it, it can be unmounted and it does not interrupt a restart anymore. After doing that, that HD mounted correctly under Monterey. The 3 HDs were all Mac OS Extended, so I erased the HD that was causing problems and reformatted it as an APFS volume. I even exchanged the enclosures between that HD and one of the 2 other HD that was correctly mounting. Changing the USB cable did not solve the problem. It was impossible to write or read from it, impossible to unmount it and I had to physically unplug it to be able to restart or shut down the computer. When my computer (macPro late2013) was launched from a test partition with Monterey (clean install), one of those drives never mounted and was flashing its light non stop. I have 3 identical WD Blue 5400rpm backup hard drives, all in 3 identical StartTech enclosures.
